Career Resource Center

 
The Career Resource Center serves as a "One-Stop" marketplace delivering education, employment, and vocational training services geared to help people find jobs. It offers a variety of convenient, customer friendly services that open doors between job seekers and employers. The Career Resource Center is a comprehensive One-Stop marketplace. Core and intensive services are available to all job seekers. These services are provided by career center staff of co-located partners.

Core Services

The One-Stop system provides direct access to core services by different partners and linkages to additional services. The vast ranges of services provided are designed for seamless customer service. Customers can access local labor market information to make informed choices as they begin the job search process. The One-stop delivery system provides all customers’ access to workforce and labor market information utilizing self-help and customer assisted services in addition to optional partner services and resources. The availability of services is consistent in all locations and will expedite customer flow. The services are personalized to the needs of each individual customer.

Available Resources

The Career Resource Center computer work stations that are linked to a wide variety of job listings with local businesses and agencies for job searches, and we have Internet access to state and nationwide job search engines. We also provide several different software programs to help you create your resume, brush up on office applications, or discover a career in which you might excel. We also have a variety of literature, tapes, and videos on various carrier related topics from management to starting your own business or from customer service to interviewing tips and techniques.

Our staff can help you focus on your job search, critique your resume, or put you through the paces in a mock interview. You can also register for one of our workshops that will make you more competitive in the marketplace.

Most of our services are Free!

Most of our services are free. However, in order to participate in some of our specialized training programs, you will need to meet minimum requirements. Upon acceptance, you may be able to train for specialized jobs at no charge.

Come in today and talk to one of our Customer Service Associates. On your very first visit you can walk away with useful information for job search and perhaps even an appointment to interview for a job that you will love.

Other Services Available

  • Intake (profiling) and Orientation: Comprehensive information pertaining to WIA services and guidance/orientation to enrollment criteria.
    Initial Assessment-Eligibility screening for program enrollment.
  • Provision of Labor Market Information (LMI)-Statistical information pertaining to local labor market or in the State of Arizona and other states if deemed necessary.
  • Support Service Information-Program Assistance to help minimize barriers to employment and to assist with employment/program retention.
    U.I. Claim filing Access/information-Assistance in registering for U.I benefits and accessing pertinent program information.
  • WIA Title 1 “Eligibility” Analysis and program enrollment- Interested applicants are screened to meet program eligibility criteria to determine registration and program enrollment.
  • Job Search Assistance- Advice and guidance on performing effective job search, networking and detailed information on how to compose cover letters, resumes, and much more.
  • Pre-Referral Screening to employers- Employment referrals to local employers.
  • Job Club Participation-Workshop attendees learn to conduct preliminary and in depth research into agencies, organizations and employers. They also learn to initiate contact with leads and arrange informational interviews. Additionally they are coached on how to conduct themselves for interviews to effectively maximize hiring potential.
  • Internet Access-Internet usage is rapidly increasing across all segments of the population.

12 Month Follow-Up Services

Follow-up services are provided to exited participants for the purposes of ensuring job retention, wage gains and career progression. Follow- Up Services may include the following:

  • Additional Career Planning and Counseling
  • Peer Support Groups
  • Job Search Assistance
  • Support Service Assistance

Outreach Services

To improve the options within the labor market of the long-term unemployed, economically disadvantaged and those most distanced from the labor market through specifically targeted services, including pro-active targeting and outreach to groups who will benefit from intensive supports and interventions.

In efforts to expand consumer access to outlying areas a One-Stop Satellite Center was opened in South Yuma County. The Somerton Career Center is located at 201 Bingham Avenue, Suite 19, Somerton AZ 85350. This satellite center offers WIA program services. Additional co-located partners on site at the main and satellite centers include the following:

Department of Economic Security (DES)

Services offered through Wagner-Peyser Act funds include; Job search and referral assistance to the job seeker and recruitment, screening and referral services for the employer. For more information click the following link: www.azdes.gov.

Portable Practical Education Preparation (PPEP)

PPEP serves Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers and their families and assists with college tuition, GED courses and limited occupational skills training. click the following link for more information: www.ppep.org.

Goodwill Of Arizona

Goodwill of Central Arizona is nationally recognized as the leader in empowering people to achieve their highest level of personal and economic independence, which include Goodwill Older Worker Programs, Various programs to assist adults over 55, Goodwill Disability Services, and an on-site Disability Services Navigator. Job Corps

Offers various training and educational programs to Youth ages 16 through 24.
